During the meeting the parliamentarians discussed the elaboration of the legislative acts that regulate application of reproductive technologies in Ukraine, particularly concerning international legal aspects of the so-called “surrogate motherhood”.
As the people’s deputy stressed, there soon will be a new document submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stipulating measures on protecting the rights of children born as a result of applying assisted reproduction technologies.
Jean-Yves Leconte expressed his interest in the amendments to Ukraine’s legislation that are made in connection with the country’s accession to the Convention on protection of children and co-operation in respect of intercountry adoption.
As it was mentioned during the meeting, such amendments are stipulated by the respective bill (Reg. No. 2002) that is being refined in the Committee as a part of the preparation for the first reading.
